Default UR Suspension

Daft question alert!!! I'd like to replace the springs and dampers on my 1981 UR. Does anyone know what I can replace them with? I can only find springs for URs 1984 onwards which would lower the car which I'd like to avoid if possible, if only to preserve originality. Grateful if anyone has any ideas.

Cheers.

I understand wherev john is coming from on this one. Speak to pete Reeve, he can supply Koni sport dampers and H&R Springs to match. A very popular combination thats tried and tested on the URQ

Unfortunately I was the first to have a go with these infamous springs!
With more time and the subsequent knowledge gained i could have overcome the problems with konis having longer travel and the springs being shorter (and so flapping about!), so I cut my loses and sold them on to someone who was fully aware of the issues, and stuck with standard springs.
Apparently bilsteins didn't have the same problems.
hindsight is a wondereful thing and now it seems obvious that a stiffer spring, with the same thickness coil must be physically shorter even it results in a similar ride height.
Will put a lot of effort into sorting my problems out (and arranging the original buy) , and so for me at least everything ended well and he didn't deserve the flak he got. I cant imagine anyone else wanting to arrange anything similar and the whole thing contributed IMO to the quattroforum no longer being the "attraction" it once was

There are several things that have contributed, that is one of them though for sure. Shame really, good job this site is here and it's feet are on the ground.
