I had piper cams in my old 7A - they were a good compromise, torque band a touch narrower, nice extra tug above 4.5k rpm, felt around 15hp extra on the butt dyno.
Sounded the bollocks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxIZAzjC8Ew
I needed to raise the idle speed and modify the idle switch bracket as they were quite lumpy below 1000rpm.

I didn't buy them new though - is it worth the money on an NG?

I experimented with all sorts of cams on my old 2337cc 10V KV and the only ones I'd use are Schrick. But to get the best from them you need to have had the head modded first as this is the biggest restriction on these.....

This, I've had two Schrick cams in 10v n/a engines over the years and they've both been really good, adding a bit of extra go, but they also made the cars 'feel' quicker by subtly shifting the point the power was delivered. As Dave says, it works best with head gasflowing.

Yeah, the plan was to have the head gasflowed, problem being I don't really want to do without the car any length of time!

I have come to the conclusion it is a 7A engine and ecu I need to fill my need for more speed and lpg conversion!!

Finding a car I can diesect for it's internals here in N.I is proving to be difficult lol

Good little read on 10v Shrick cam experiment playing with timing;

http://audi.humanspeakers.com/camshaft-schrick.htm

It will be fun, value for money is questionable, but that might not be the point?
