Ten Second Start Up
Does anyone know why my quattro takes around ten seconds of turning over before the engine starts when cold? when it's hot it fires up in a flash but when cold always this prolonged "giddy up" caper! interestingly enough, the quattro we hired in may which is of the same type and year also behaved this way..
hmm... craig

Could be fuel draining back down the lines? My little polo suffers with this so I just prime the pump a couple of times before cranking.

My 90 is the complete opposite, fires up straight away on first turn of the key when cold, when warm takes some persuasion??

check fuel pressures first so that residual pressure is all good then start looking at other things

As JJ says. Fuel pressure sounds to be the likely culprit.
