Fuel pump relay may be in other location than fuse box? Wtf? Relay u can check simple - for example, i used +12v from old PSU, relay shematic and contact numbers u will find on relay [don't do stupid things ]. Keep in mind that this car is old, so there is possible bad contacts somewhere. Also, check two connections on fuel pump.

Dude, it's good that you are a knowledgeable chap and you do seem to know you're technical stuff. Some do on here and some don't, some think they do and some think they don't.....BUT please do not come across as though everyone is an idiot and then treat them as such with stupid comments and abbreviation's. One thing we do do on this forum is to try and help one another out with issues. That's why the whole concept of Classic Audi works. If you like this concept, then fantastic stick around if not..then...well I'll leave it up to you.

I don't say that he's an idiot, what i say - digg it as far as possible, and then ask I'm reading some big VW and Audi forums, and from there is most of my "knowledge", my personal knowledge comes from my A80 B3, it's my first car and still the only, 1,5 years, i changed engine [1.8 carb -> 2.0E], i changed interior, i changed wiring harness and so on, most of it without any advice [ok, when i changed engine, i get some advice from car electrician and ECU specialist[in one forum], and i called 5x to personally known mehanic ]. I also use available info in internet, unfortunately much of it is in russian, but my russian language skill is improoving.
