Often called a servo but brake booster is what the manufacturers call it.

I've got a spare but it's from an MB and I'm sure the WR uses a different version.

ATE Classic may be worth contacting - even just to find out if rebuilding is an option.

Thanks Mike. Yes booster is what I knew it as. Best bet is to remove it at the weekend and see why it’s leaking. I’m guessing a seal etc.

Ok, I will have a look tomorrow. I got some spares with the car and I think there might be one of those in the box.

Looking at 7 Zap I think what I have is the block valve that the bomb fits to. Sorry.

I am planning on doing a brake servo upgrade so will have the part going spare but not for a few months.

Ah ok thanks. Yes I think this is the unit below the bomb with the pressure switches fitments. The booster is on the back of the master cyl against the bulkhead on the right of the engine bay.

I’ll get mine off and hope that we can affect a repair etc. appreciate your time looking etc. Thanks

I believe the item in question is #1 (857612107A ) in the above photo.

Ultimately, it is a servo. In a vacuum system, there’s the big round cylinder, in a hydraulic system it’s this.

I’m editing my reply as I go along.

This page looks familiar. I’ve not got the time to read it through to be sure. I gathered from a thread some time ago (classic audi, S2, or somewhere), that someone like this was either refurbishing units, or alternative able to supply kit to DIY refurb.

Among all my spares is a brake booster, clearly in need of Overhaul. I’m going to buy a couple of seal kits, and add the job to my list of lockdown tasks to keep me occupied*.
At least it’s something that can be done in the office rather than among the garage clutter.

*as if I didn’t have enough to do.
