Very sad indeed. I had been told some time ago he wasn’t well but still a shock. Obviously the more poignant because of the years I worked with him both back in the day and since. He took his ‘job’ very seriously but boy did we have some laughs on the way. The e-mails have been flowing between the old crew with the ‘do you remember when......’ memories.

The passing of a genius. I will always remember the Castrol film "The Flying Finns" starring Hannu in the Mk 1 Escort Twin-cam & Timo Makinen in his Cooper S. Makinen working as hard as he could tap-dancing across the pedals Scandinavian reverse flicks at 90 rights and Mikkola just sitting there on a Sunday drive. Magic.
