There are a couple of extra guys yes but Godley and Crème were still very much part of the band at that stage. Wikipedia says they left in 1976 and the first single released without them was 'The Things we do for Love'

I posted The Communards 'Don't Leave Me This Way' last night on the 80s Music Thread as one of the anthems of 1986 and indeed it was the best selling UK single of that year.
However that version pales into insignificance IMO to the 'original' Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes and Thelma Houston's 1977 releases and it would be amiss of me not to post them.
