Couple of clips now up on youtube..

This last video is 7mins long, John's car is at 4mins and 4.50mins. But its worth watching throughout as the entry list is quite diverse with some superb machines... I won't spoil it for you...

The short clips aren't that great as this was one bloody slippery stage and I was pussy-footing round some of it.

Mind you, some bit's of the day I was shifting:

Just think that could be Hannu, Walter or Stig!

or maybe even Michelle!

Great looking quattro, all the best for the future.

I know its not much of a comparison, but when we've done the demo runs on 'gravel' at Sunseeker, the videos and the photos don't do it justice, the 'gravel' is actually made up of stones anything up to the size of a grapefruit, the trenches in the road big enough to lose small children and the water/mud with the consistency of custard, its all car breaking stuff. Seriously John, you did good...

There were parts of SS1 & SS2 where I'd have thought twice about taking the Range Rover through - and it's got an 8mm alloy sump guard on it!

Grapefruit would have been acceptable, it was the water melons that troubled me. One of those feckers took a big chunk out of the kevlar under my seat. The ruts were like there'd been a tank through before us.

To be honest, I'm never going to be hitting the top spots with this car as I simply have too much invested in it to not give a hoot. One of the guys I know with a 205 took a minute off my time on SS1 and I know I could go quicker than him in my Saxo. However, he didn't see past SS3 so I don't think it's worth going quick when the car can't take the punishment.

I drove much of the event like I would drive on a quiet (private!) road with due regard for the car and the mechanicals. I was happier finishing the event where we were, in a car I could still drive home if I wanted to, than crashing out mid-event in a higher position with a car being winched onto a trailer.

What I need to do now is learn how to take the corners more quickly on the loose, setting up the car properly and powering through. I spent the day braking too early and only pressing the loud pedal when I could see the exit clearly. If I could take a couple of seconds off each corner, I'd be in the top twenty. However, most of the folks up there are running anti-lag, sequential boxes and trick diffs and I'm not going down that route. If I can end a rally looking like this, then it's worth not getting any awards:

Another in-car stage, this time from SS4 which was actually the first time we got a chance to try the car without the rocks and ruts of the previous stages.
