Unhappy Free loft insulation??

Can anybody tell me if once you have free loft insulation fitted, are there any clauses that state you must remain in that property for an X amount of time after the work is done?

Might sound a stupid question, but basically, my dad died in september and I suspect my mum would like to move house..

However, while she is still at our family home, id like to make it as comfortable as possible for her this winter. It's an old welsh stone house with zero insulation, and to be blunt, id hate to see something happen to her due to the weather
We've lived here 40 + years and if free insulation is available, id like to get it done.

But she's unfortunately being stubborn and refusing to get the work done.

As one of her arguments is eventually moving, does anybody know if you must remain in the property for a certain amount of time once the work is carried out?

Id like to counter her arguments with facts..

I'm really at my wits end.. She is even saying that because we are out in the sticks, that if workers come round they will see how vulnerable we are out here, as if they will come back in the night and rob us or something.

In my eyes she's just making excuses, I just don't know how to calm her concerns.

I only want her to be warm this winter, but it's like trying to talk to a brick wall.

I mean, I could insulate it myself, but why should I if I can get it done for free.

Five or six years ago, I changed our gas/electricity supplier to British Gas purely to get loft insulation for free (actually done by a sub-contractor called Dyson). It was a one year contract and I moved away from them immediately the year was up. There were no ties at all linked to the free insulation. It's the Government (or us!) that are actually paying for it.

Most of the free insulation schemes were chopped by George Osborne about this time last year, although it would be worth checking whether your Mum's current energy supplier(s) still offer it.

Two things occur to me though, (i) your Mum may be used to the house after 40 years (so is the risk that great?), and (ii) she is clearly resistant so is this a battle worth having?

We had it done at the last house, there was nothing saying you had to stay there for a set time afterwards, they just see it as another house with insulation

Calendar's have stopped they made a loss last year .

They are still doing government grants for loft insulation, boilers and cavity wall around our area so it's worth checking . And no there is no rules that you have to stay in that property for a set period of time you can move out the month after if you wish.
