Hadrians wall was built as a testament to his own 'greatness', because he didn't extend the empire as others had. It was never defensive, and the gates were open all the time.

The Antonine wall on the other hand, was defensive, and is way north of glasgow.

Our family have Danish viking in our DNA by the way! Auntie had a 'test' gven to her for her birthday! Is that why I'm a nutter?

I just noticed that the percentage of viking DNA is much larger in the north than in mid/eastern part of England... Mid/eastern part of England is otherwise known as Danelaw (and is probably the reason for people in that region having a funny accent).

I guess the northern girls were prettier than their wives left at home in Jutland
