I am heading up there to check it out next Tuesday though the guy seems to be very hesitant on the phone.

Can't have been on the road too recently with the headlight reflectors as dull as they are?
Looks like he's got another as well in the garage?
Let us know how you get on

I may need a buddy to come with me just in case they decide to rough me up. Any takers?

That car sold on the bay (assuming the sale completed of course) only 2/3 weeks ago - offered as a non-runner due to ISV trouble iirc

Sale price was £400 or very close

It looks clean enough, though after 200,000 miles the drivers seat wont be as good as the one shown.

Check the A pillars, they are susceptible to rot due to water leaks under the rubbers at the corners of the windscreen.

The car used to be owned by a guy local to me who
Owned it for around 21 years, I looked at it in about 2008
But ended up getting the 90q, he had it serviced every year
By a local garage & it was garaged most of the time ,
The headlights were gone then as it had failed the mot on them ,
at the time he was looking for £700, I would of probably bought it if the 90q hadn't come along.
At the time the wings had started to go but he'd had them repaired , (not a fantastic job by the way), he did advertise it on here afterwards -
http://www.classic-audi.co.uk/forum/...ead.php?t=2552
I presume he must have moved it on recently , hence the previous eBay sale advert ?
Cheers

Likely worth saving....... sounds like it's been well cared for previously .
