Brake bleeding order?
Morning all!
Following on from my fluid question... Does anyone happen to know what order I should be be bleeding the brakes? (I could do with picking up a Haynes manual!) TIA |

So could we all...But there isn't one!
In the Haynes manuals I have for the B1 and B2 and the early 90s Polo the sequence is right hand rear, left hand rear, rh front, lh front. Can't see any reason it shouldn't be the same for the B4 I think the theory is start with the wheel furthest from the reservoir and work to the closest Last edited by cjp0349; 17-12-16 at 09:58 AM. |

Bleed the master cylinder first and don't forget to do the clutch slave cylinder too.

I'm curious if it matters that much, even though they suggest a bleeding order.
If it's anything like other models, then front left and right are separate feeds from the master cylinder anyway. Looking at the parts catalog, 7zap, the rears also are separate feeds, then possibly through a pressure regulator/reducer to the rear. Push fluid through, bleed the cylinder, then the lines, so that fresh fluid and any locked air ends up at the bleeds progressively further from the cylinder. Just make sure the pressure reducer is working!

As you say theory is furthest wheel first etc. I'd agree changing the fluid in the clutch line as also mentioned |
