Removing door cards - series 3 coupe.
Done this before a few year ago and remember it being a right royal PITA then.
I've located the allen bolt underneath the handle and removed that and I remember there's another "something" just underneath where the leccy window buttons are. There's a small hole in the rubber door arm rest/handle and I remember there's a screw there which goes into a small bracket but I can't remember if it's a philips head/flat head or even an allen key required to remove it and I can't see it cos it's about an inch into the rubber. any ideas cos I don't have much patience with this sort of thing! |

I believe it's a 3 or 4mm allen key.

yup, just sussed it's a 4mm. Got the one out, can't get to the other one, so having a cuppa first, then going to the dentist, then gonna try again!

Well, get the door open and have a fiddle, see if you can get the allen bolt out....
If not, get the biggest hammer you can find, drink another can of Special Brew..... |

Sussed the door card removal technique now anyway but couldn't fix the problem.
Basically, the drivers lock has no resistance and it looks like there's something on the end of the lock/barrel which attaches to the plastic piece at the top of the door lock mechanism which has snapped off. To get to this properly means totally removing the window mechanism inside the door as the lock is behind the upper support bar for the window. So, at the moment, I can only lock/unlock from the passenger side. That said, it will work off the key fob anyway although I have gained an intermittent fault with the alarm so that goes off on it's own accord after about 1 minute of being set. |
