VCDS Lite
Hi Folks,
Wanted to pick the brains a bit of people who use the VCDS diagnostics, I have a registered version of VCDS lite and a cable from ebay with 2x2 adaptor. It connects and speaks to the car ('94 B4 ), autoscans etc all OK. If I use the measuring blocks I get live data in the boxes but no description underneath to say what I am actually looking at. Is this normal? If there is anyone in Central Scotland who would let me try a genuine cable or can plug their own computer in to see if there is anymore info displayed I would be most grateful! Thanks Steve |

What car is it? VCDS don't have label files for all ecu versions. Try updating your software version, if not you may have to resort to the workshop manual to tell you the measure value blocks for the specific data you need.

I see, 94 B4. Not sure if it's a 'lite' thing or not.

Thanks Mikey it’s a 1.6 ADA engine also which makes the available knowledge much reduced straight away, there wasn’t so many in the UK and it would appear most of them didn’t have problems!

It's sometimes normal if there is no label file available. You can use mine but it will probably be the same.
You may want to consider registering on the Erwin site to download the ADA manual which will tell you what the measuring blocks are and will also have all the tests

Plugged it in tonight for the first time in about 8 months and there is now some descriptions! No idea how but it’s much easier to work with now, some of the air flow and throttle position labels are missing but it’s easy enough to work out which is which.
As a quick aside, is the coolant temp on vcds varying by at least 10 degrees compared to the dash gauge normal? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
