Default Braided brake hoses (Audi Coupe B4 8B 16v)

Hi,

Can someone please give me some clarification on what it is I actually need because I'm getting conflicting part numbers and amounts of lines I need?

1993 Audi Coupe B4 2.0 16v

Workshop manual shows the front having 2 hoses (1 hose from caliper to copper pipe that bends around strut, then one hose from copper pipe to the copper pipe that goes to pump). The rear shows the same amount and setup but the last goes to brake force regulator.

So this totals 8 hoses. The suppliers state I need 4 only. Is this just from the calipers? others state I need a 6 line kit. Is this covering the 2 each side at the front and 1 each at the rear?

If you are not confused by now then you'll be the right person to solve this riddle!

Thanks in advance

Steve

It depends on what suppliers are offering in terms of the lengths. They may be replacing the 2 hoses + pipe with a single hose which is not ideal.

I'd suggest the HEL kit which has 8 hoses and is a straight swap with the OEM

It's listed for a 2.6 but your 16v should have the same setup

https://auto.helperformance.com/audi...-2-6-1992-1996.

They also offer a 4 line and 6 line kit depending on engine and chassis number but that one I've linked is closest to your car

Hi Steve
I suggest you look up your car on 7Zap and all will be clear.
I changed my flexi lines to HEL stainless ones. They are very helpful if you give them a ring and mention the forum and they will likely give a discount! Their products are excellent.

Thanks Mike, these are the ones I actually looked at first. They only spec for 2.6 but it is more or less the same setup as my 16v (same brake size etc). I will give HEL a call, in my head I knew I needed 8 so found that kit, then the likes of goodridge stated only 4 or 6. Much appreciated

Thanks guys for your info. Spoke to HEL direct and they managed to sort me an 8 piece kit (2 hoses per corner) and got a discount too, £150 for the whole kit. Very helpful guys who gave me the hose lengths so I could compare on 7zap. Goodridge were useless when I spoke to them and didn't sound interested at all so they can now kiss my bean bag!

Cheers guys
