Default Gear linkage at gearbox removal??

How do you remove the gear linkage were it joins the gearbox...that's all that is holding me up from totally freeing off the gearbox from the body of the car?

HELLPP

Thanks

No its the balljoint in the centre of the pic that pops out. The large one attached to the gear selector itself that comes out of the box has to come out with the arm. If it's been on forever it can be a right sod to get out. You should either have a nut on the end or a screw on the side to remove and then lots of taps with a hammer, follwed by cursing and a big screwdriver or crowbar behind the arm to pull it off the shaft, with it suddenly releasing leaving you with grazed nuckles and bruising... Good luck
