Brake woes.
Evening all,
I was driving home from work tonight and the car (80 2.0e avant) was pulling big time to the left every time I braked. I assumed I had a seized caliper on the o\side so when I got home I jacked the car up and stripped the caliper off only to find that every thing moves freely. I set up a bit of wood to press the pedal for me while I cracked the bleed nipple. Nothing. I split the flexi from the brake pipe. Nothing. I followed the brake pipe back to the ABS unit and cracked the union there. Still nothing. I know I have pressure at the rest of the brake lines as I checked them while I was at it. This also lets me know I have power from the master cylinder. Does it sound like my ABS unit is duff ? Can they be fixed ? Thanks Michael |

Thanks for the replies chaps
Missfire- In that link the guy would appear to have the exact same problem as myself. No pressure to the front drivers wheel. With the pipe disconnected from the ABS unit I can stand on the brake pedal with 2 feet giving all of my 11 and a half stone and not even a drip from the pipe. B2AUDI80- So it is my ABS unit thats faulty. Did you replace with new or used units when you fixed the cars you mentioned ? I don't think it will be a cheap part from Audi if buying new. |
