Question

Generally things are better. Compared to Victorians we have access to healthcare, a relatively cleaner environment, greater choice in food, more laws to protect our rights (although some may wish to take issue on the above), and Skype lets us see loved ones abroad etc, but has society improved?

Family break up seems on an upward spiral, children are now bullied on-line not just in the playground and I don't recall hearing of so many suicides among young folk 30 years ago. People, especially ladies, seem more insecure about themselves, even so called Super models and common courtesy is fast becoming a rarity. Road rage was once relatively unheard of.

Sure, we still tend to all pull together in an emergency, but how long does the sense of community last? I just feel that for everything we gain, somewhere we lose something.

It's only progress if we actually progress. Which, being human, is questionable.. So, mostly it's clutter.

It certainly hasn't stopped the nasty side of humanity. We just hear about it quicker.
