Liking the Rally Lada pictures a lot.

Grew up with them as we had in family models 2101, 2103, 2106 where all the difference was engine size and bumpers / lights styling

I really can't think about worst car.. Oh sorry, probably Moskvich

It was designed and built by Soviet standards of 70ies and nothing changed till 21st century. Audi and LADA from 80ies is like light years apart

Actually designed by FIAT. The Lada was the FIAT 124 and all the tooling, etc. transported to Russia. Likewise, the 125 was transported to Poland and built very successfully. Thousands of them were made and some still last to this day as the engineering was so simple. They can be made to go very fast and with a bit of careful measuring and adjustment, they will handle very well. Front suspension fully adjustable for castor and camber with anti-roll bars easily made to fit. In some ways, they were ahead of their time.

By the way, the late Tony Lanfranchi won his class in the British Saloon Car Championship in a Moskvitch 412 back in the day so they can't have that bad!

Hmmm, wasn't that in the days when the Saloon car Championship classification was based on showroom price and very little was cheaper than a Moskvich?

Mate, Russian cars are pile of sh... from which ever angle You look at them. My dad was a car painter back in Soviet times in big complex where they did all things from mechanical to corrosion protection. And it was a must to treat Your car there if You wanted Your LADA last for at least 5 years

Obviously, almost any car "upgraded" by person with good knowledge can be fast and drivable..
