It is, bless. But believe me, you’re better off out. It’ll never be the same car to you...

Hi mark,
I was thinking about buying your burnt out car and restoring it. But reading through the information I think it is to far gone. Best regards Kevin Last edited by Knights; 25-06-19 at 02:35 PM. |

To be honest if it weren't for the loom and the dash I'd be thinking about having a pop at that. Must be mad.

Yes, that's kind of what I mean. Looking at the pictures you'd be forgiven for thinking (esp if you didn't know your Quattros) "OK that's not tooo bad...". But then knowing what the pictures don't show, and finding the replacement parts is going to be difficult/impossible anyway. I guess if you had a rotten Quattro you needed to reshell then it might be worth a punt.

tempting, but...

The initial cost of the car is only the start of it. How much do you think a headlight is? £400+VAT, that's £500 with postage, and you haven't found out if the metering head has melted, or if it "just needs a clean" How much to "clean" a metering head? £500. Wiring loom? £200. Bargain! Fitting? two days by an auto electrician, £1700+VAT. Interior? Dash-good luck finding one! is the ECU alive? Or do you have £800 for a second hand one (oh-if you can find one.) Instrument panel? I saw a green one in Germany...£1250. (no, I'm not trying to put you off so i can buy it. I already have one, and these figures are realistic, and recent....) |
