Default Engine Bay - Best way to clean?

Hi.
Just wondering if anybody has a suggestion on the best way to clean up the engine bay on a 1986 Ur quattro.
I suppose the normal way would be to steam clean but on a classic Audi is that advisable, all them electrics!
Cheers, Andy

Remove the HT leads, plastic bags on the electric modules and gaffer tape and steam away, all them electrics get normally wet when you drive in the rain so it shouldn't be an issue

Ok thanks , will have a go when a bit warmer. What about a good de-greaser?

I've used turtle wax engine clean on my cars before. Spray on. Work in with a brush then rinse off. Easy to use and effective. Like yer man above says, cover over the leccy bits and youre good to go.

Parrafin gun fun of petrol, then leave the bonnet up for the rest of the day and don't have a fag anywhere near it!

Quick Overview
An aggressive water based cleaner, ideal for use with a pressure washer for cleaning grease, road film etc from chassis, engine bay, and other oily components.

I use ChemicalGuys engine cleaner; very reasonably priced.
As above, spray on, agitate with a brush, leave for a short time and then wash off with a normal garden hose on a low setting.
Beware leaving any engine degreaser on any plastics as it can mark it.
