Default How do I open the boot?

Hi all, I seem to have got a problem opening the boot to my Audi 80 cabby. I know it sounds simple to do but the problem I have got is that the rounnd push button on the boot has broken and the centre piece has fell out so the outer circular crhome piece is loose but does not realese the locking mechanism. I have had the back seats out but there is only a hole to the boot, and looking with a torch, cant see how I could release it anyhow. It will need a new lock for definate, but how can I open it . will it need to drilled out or something. I think it may be a specialist job, or maybe a retired car thief Any ideas much appreciated.

There is a trick involving many extension bars/socket/ratchet via the ski hatch in the centre of the rear seat, you undo the bolts which holds the lock assembly to the boot lid.
The procedure is available via the net and I think linked to Audifans.net, it is a common practice when the lock assembly breaks affecting the hood opening mechanism/sequence, something to do with the hood mech thinks the boot is open and therefore wont allow the hood open/close procedure.
Hope this helps

Million light years ago I had such a problem with my former B3 A80 - it had no ski hatch, but it also had no covers in front of boot lid lights - the rear seat was taken out, one piece of pipe was taken and at the end of it V shaped incision was made and while lamp was placed in one rear seat mounting hole, I pushed in the pipe through other and pulled with it lock linkage near the lock in correct direction.

I presume that you could have cover or trim in front of it, if yes, you should figure out how you could pull that off, with what kind of tools.
