Default Power loss

Hello all.
Driving yesterday had a sudden loss of power for a milly second the abs light came on then off. This happened 5 or 6 times. Got home parked up then tried to start up nothing happened. Checked battery put jump leads on still nothing. Would the starter cause this as i have short cut power to it and it seems dead. Or could battery be fried?
Thanks.

ABS light will come on if you drop below 12v.

When you say nothing happens, does it turn over or is it totally dead ?

If it's not even turning over, I'd suspect a battery or a bad earth.

Even if a battery shows 12v, it can still be goosed and be unable to provide enough juice to turn the starter.

Thanks.
I wouldn't have thought to have a look at the ignition switch.

Back again.
Have put on new battery, cleaned earth on battery lead, checked ignition.
The lights, wipers etc are working until turnover position.
The abs unit is clicking when the key is turned don't know if this is normal.
I'm leaning towards starter now,but would that lead to power loss when driving?

Any thoughts welcome.
Thanks.
