Default Decent tyres for a Ur

We are in the market for some decent, modern tyres for the Ur, and I'm struggling.

I know 215/50/15's are hideously rare and usually ancient in design and sometimes shelf time. So the last set of tyres on our Ur were (are) 205/55/15 Toyo T1R's but these are getting long in the tooth as a tyre design now. The point in case is the new tyres on the S2 are the latest Hankook EVO's and they are night and day better than the old Toyos.

225/50/15's are not an option as they catch under full compression with 4 up and a tank of fuel, and our Ur is usually exactly that.

So... Help....

Has anyone fitted 215/45/15's on 8x15's?

The choice is frankly rubbish at the moment....

Me too I'm struggling for my E30 M3 too as I need 225/45/16's and I can't find any 'decent' tyres for that either.

The Ur has 205/50/15 Dunlop SP but they look a little stretched and it's starting to get to me........

Any other ideas???

I've never had major issues with 225s in the past

Mine is stiffer than standard, but not too much. However, I've run 225/50 for several years, off and on, since the early 90s. I've never had any problems.

The problem with 225's for us was tyre to arch clearance and catching under full compression, we are running standard suspension and regularly run the car fully laden, (BH Monday this weekend just gone, it did 200 miles with 4 up and started with 20 gallons of fuel). We ran 225's in the mid-1990's but as the vehicle's usage changed from 2 up spirited driving to 4 up + family crap/ 'added ballast', the 225's and arch rubbing became a PITA, especially as a quality modern tyre for 215/50/15's evaporated.

Secondly, the Ur quattro chassis never really lent itself to being over tyred. As a car, the original 205/60/15's were more than adequate for the 6x15 Ronals... After all, they only shared 50 bhp each. Indeed, our 20vT rally quattro runs 300+bhp on 195/50/15's and never feels under tyred...

Put simply, the wider tyres on Ur's improve looks, improve aquaplaning, improve tramlining and reduce nimble handing and predictable breakaway. What could possibly be better...
