Front seats
I'm looking to improve the front seats in our B3 90 20v; does anyone know from experience whether the front seats and runners from Audi 80 B4 and Audi A4 models will fit straight into a B3 body? There seem to be loads of leather seats on the Bay at present.
She Who Must Be Obeyed is blaming her backache on the 5,000 odd miles we have racked up in our 90 20v this summer! |

B4 ones do as I've got S2 avant fronts in my 90.
They have the added benefit of lumbar support

If you want real comfort and a very good sport seat go straight to the C4 100/A6 Sports seats , rumoured to be Recaro, as seen in the S6 pic below as standard or as an option across the rest of the range. It has been done many times but requires some work to get them to fit. These seats really are excellent and have lumbar, if your lucky you might get the electric adjustable and heated version.

Did they just slide straight in using the S2 Avant runners or did you have to modify them? I didn't get the opportunity to take a close look at your car last weekend. C. |

They are a direct fit with no changes needed

I'm having some difficulty in finding anything "Audi" to fit and Recaro's UK agent say they cannot supply baseframes for the B3 and B4 body styles.
However, they do still offer frames for VW Golf cars made at the same time. Question is: Does anyone know for sure whether seats from cars made by other parts of the VA Group fit straight in? There seem to be quite a lot of VW Golf Recaro seats available second hand but the question is whether they will fit? |

If with "recaros" here are meant those strange 80's style aftermarket power seats, then over here when someone runs in this kind of problem, MAG welder is being powered up and seat base is built.
As for seat compatibility with VW's, I'll give 95% chance that B3/B4 audi front seats are direct fit in B3/B4 passat and mk3 golf, based on some observations made long time ago. If you wish - I have mk3 golf in my garage at the moment, I can try to put audi seat in it. Another possible upgrade route is front seats from mk4 golf platform car, requires just front mount modification, either stock mounts have to be cut off and mk4 mounts welded in, or stock mounts cut shorter and two holes drilled through which mk4 seats are bolted in. |
