I've removed them from my coupe today, the biggest issue with mine seems to be that they've discoloured very badly. A mould will be complex, but I think it might be do-able. But is there any point me trying, is there someone already lined up to draw them up and 3d print some? I don't want to step on anyone's toes.

The trick will be printing them from a product that can cope with a locked car roasting in the summer sun without turning to over cooked bacon.

I must admit that having explored the options I bit the bullet and bought them. |

Here ya go:
Link deleted to avoid wasting your time. Found some on eBay that look the same but according to the compatibility doo-dah don't fit. Sorry. Last edited by AdrianH; 15-07-19 at 09:01 AM. |

Mine seem to have a slit from one side, and the metal washers appear to have been pushed in to that slit and into position around the holes. It did seem to be overly-complicated, and I wondered if I could get away without the slit and people would just use washers down (or up) the screw holes. Washers would be slightly smaller, though, so maybe that's why. I haven't extracted the washers yet, as I've got some tidying up to do with bits of interior all over the shed.
The other thing I wondered about is the shape on the top of the clip, where it contacts the roof. That also seems to be quite complex, and for no good reason I can see. Without that, and without the slit, the mould is quite simple. And then, as @Isimmo said, choosing the material will be key. The stuff I use at the moment is for making wheel centre caps, and I *think* it's rated for up to about 75C, but it's not all that clear. I've asked the supplier what they think. |

That's right, they sort of slide in and disappear. You could probably leave them out though –*if you're able to print them off they could become semi-disposable, just print another one whenever you need it.

Yes, but if someone is going to make them and sell to others, I'd imagine that wouldn't be too popular. At a point where everyone has a 3d printer kicking about, disposable would be fine. |
