several questions on electric/heated seats

Hi. I bought seats(from C4S6 I think) some time ago, at the time I didn't notice that there is a red coloured plug under the seat, I assume it's heating? If so, I wouldn't mind wiring in the heating, looking at the harness it doesn't look complicated, it doesn't show anything else apart from the wiring. Is there anything else apart from fuses, or is it plug an play?



Just out of interest, while on "seats" topic, I have C4, and been looking at Audi A8/S8 D2 electric front seats, according to vagcat they are the same, but can I fit electric seats without cutting and welding stuff?

B3 has green plugs... If it's heating, there should be all six pins used in that connector. Harness, yes, fuse [or maybe two, dunno how rear heating is powered] and switches.

AFAIK fitting power seats involves cutting existing middle support and weld pair of mounts, but I might be wrong for C4 - see for yourself if there are pair of threaded holes ready to accept bolts.

Only front is heated, I will check the plug when I get the chance. I have threaded holes on either side of the middle support and carpet has been cut too. How do they sit at the back, do they go on the rails as manual ones?

This is back of D2 A8, and there are supports for the seats

In case of D2 it seems that there was changeover at some point, because etka lists both oldschool seats with two rails welded to bodyshell and current system, where seats have two integrated rails bolted to body.

Oh I see. I just had a look, and they have two, one is 'sport version', could it be that S8's came with the integrated rails bolted onto the body, and A8 came with old style one?

EDIT: In Latvia there must be non leather/non Recaro interiors that are electric? What if I just buy the base with switches, would I be able to move the bolsters and covers from urS6? What you reckon?

Remember that seat base should still be from the same type as seat desired - either recaro or non-recaro - and that backrest also has motor in it - or even more than one, if it has orthopedic function. In any case you're in the right country where to look for seats in good condition from low mileage cars, the only problem - you won't sit in the best seat

I also presume that C5 power seats might fit with some help with welding equipment - as the rails on B5/C5 are 2 cm closer than in C3/C4.

I thought only bolsters change, but base is the same?

So the width between supports at the front is the same? In that case, that would be better idea than try getting C4 electric seats, and availability is much higher.

Ok thanks. I think I'll just leave it for now, get back to it when everything else is done, and do some research on C5 seats (if possible to fit them, then save up and put RS6 recaro's in).
