Default Another any idea what this is for thread

As title gents, stripping out the boot and rear lights to fix a few leaks and found this, any ideas, it look sort of stereo ish ( old school there, stereo ) but it was in where the jack was ?

With the rear lights and back end stripped out in 30 mins it wouldn't take long to strip this and paint it, would it ? someone please talk me out of doing it

Cheers

David

Wireless, radio, cd etc, that's the boy, but never seen an Audi CD changer for this model or even if one was about in them days, also the jack sits in this area so still a bit confused ?
Doesn't look aftermarket either.

Ciao

No, just stripped the back end, resealed the lights and fitted new foam sealing pieces under some of the trim.

But did cut back and clean/polish the back end, gutters etc.
Checked the boot and seams and absolutely no rust what's so ever, chuffed with that, but what is strange is Audi didn't use an seam sealer etc on any of the seams and joints.

Fitted a few stainless steel bolts where the others heads were rusty.

Just scrubbing the carpets and will re-fit these.

That's about as much as I could get away with, but when I said how rust free it was I did get a comment of " when would get the chance to repaint it? " so gently does it as we could be getting some seal of approval here.

Thanks for asking
