Default Ken Dobbs

Can anyone help me out here, i'm looking for an ignition switch for a 1985 audi 100 avant, 1800, 4 cyl, the trade suppliers say it's an obsolete part now, just wondering if there's one from a breaker available somewhere, its just the plastic part i need, not the key cylinder, Fingers crossed :-)

I found this on Audi Tradition:

https://trshop.audi.de/konakart/Sele...TCH&model=0001

Note, this is the part number for LHD - not sure there is any difference?? Ask them maybe?? Also worth noting, AT charge a fair bit for postage....

Here you go Ken - that part number, and a much cheaper part https://m.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/4a0905849b

I ordered from these guys a few weeks back. UK website, but the orders come from Germany

Warning, that Audi Tradition link is for the same part number but with the A suffix, not B.
It uses a different shaped slot so won't interface with your ignition barrel.

I learnt this the hard way, basically the B variant superceded the part number with no suffix at the end, the C version replaced the A version. It took Audi 3 attempts to provide the C one, cos they kept getting me B's? (mine had the A variant)

A tip would be to get it from a vw dealer instead, or Skoda even? The B part number is used on mk4 golfs etc...

That's not the right number for a 1985 either. should be 444 905 849 A for a rhd

Default Thanks, Audi 100 ignition switch

Mikes2, thanks for your reply, luckily i have asked around some Audi dealers and specialist garages and been able to find a switch to suit, a garage in Stonehouse, Gloucester ( Bridge Garage ) had a switch in stockroom, that will do the job with a little fiddling, sorry for for delay in reply, not been too well, just found email link, :-)

Thanks also to anyone else who took time to answer my query, HI 5 guys :-)
