Coupe GT Stub Axle Bolts

I'm in the process of putting the rear stub axles back together on my Coupe GT.

I've bought some new bolts for it (from audi) and two sources of information state they should be torqued to 60nm. However that seems awfully tight for the type of bolts (M8x22) and I'm scared of stretching/ breaking them as they appear to start to stretch around 35nm.

Does anyone have any experience of this or correct torque measurements? Thanks

35 Newtonmetres is around 26 ft.lbs according to a conversion table I am looking at. What are your bolts made of if they are stretching at that torque - toffee?

There isn't a torque specified in my Haynes manual for the stub axle bolts but my rear caliper frame M10 Allen bolts were done up to 65Nm (48 ft.lbs); I would expect even an M8 bolt to take at least that before anything untoward happened.

You sure they're M8 ?

Parts listing shows N 903 698 01 M10x24.5 x8 ( 4 per side)

No difference shown for drums or discs

had another look at this. I suspect the parts listing is wrong if your Coupe has disc brakes

Later cars with disc brakes used M8x22 - torque for them is 30 Nm
