You're mistaking two things. Stroke doesn't outright affect performance, only longevity of engine, if engine hasn't been configured properly. For sport applications the speed of piston is calculated, and I doubt that such stroke would be problem for engine which revs only to 7,5k - presuming that european ford don't have much different cylinder dimensions than VAG, if ford 2.0 16v could be made to rev to 12k, then 7,5k for 2.6 is nothing. The other thing is reprocipating mass [sorry if I wrote that incorrectly ] and vibrations. And that's why I made that question, because heavier crank can both make more vibrations and due to higher rotating mass, the engine without load won't accelerate as fast - important for some, as we can see from the fact that some lighten their flywheels - but unimportant for most - but I guess there could be quite a lot people around thinking that lighter flywheel [and in this case, also crank] is better...

I now have the diesel 5 pot and I'm stripping it down in the back of my van! Let the games begin!

Hello All.
Need a little help please. I'm after an 81mm piston the same as the KV one but with a smaller gap between the crown and gudgeon pin.
If you have any 81mm pistons knocking about with a 20mm gudgeon pin please can you measure that gap and let me know what engine they were from, I don't think I can machine the standard piston enough to forge the gap.
Thanks in advance.

Steve how's it going??
I think I have all the parts I need now. Pistons have been machined to suit. Block needs alittle work to clearance the rod nuts and then I can start and put it together.
I have a lightened flywheel which I may use to offset the extra crank weight. I've a high lift cam and new light weight lifters.
Last part of the puzzle is an exhaust manifold flange as I plan to make a tubular manifold from parts I have.
Thanks for asking Si

10v turbo exhaust headers flanges are on Marc Swanson's site on Jim Green's page as an AutoCAD file, I think you could use the head flange diagrams if you can get some cut cheaply? I think they are on theprojectpad as well.

£60 for a flange

I finally had my gti stroker and diesel block turn up a couple of months back. I forgot about this thread.
May have persuaded myself to go 1.8t for some boost now though-anyone have a suitable body shell for me to fit this engine into?
