Arrow Coupe Steer Needed

Hi Guys,

I have come into a big problem which I might need some help.

I am possibly after a passenger side steering strut as mine has the old shock stuck in it.

Have dropped it into my local garage and they have snapped a 3 tonne chain trying to pull it out

Any help will be appreciated.

Possibly not needed now as they have got the old shock out by cutting the bottom off, will know tomorrow how straight it is and if any damage done when I take new shock down for fitting.

Rust.

I'm not surprised of the solution - if I understood correctly, they cut off bottom of strut - as the western mechanics unsurprisingly are inexperienced when dealing with something that's stuck - due to 10-15 years old car being cheap rubbish, not worth to repair, so they don't have something to practice on.

I've been in similar situation - 2.8 CQ struts I bought for my A90q was left open to all elements for approx 3 years in the junkyard were I bought them - I was glad I went straight to garage where known person works, as the garage equipment there was barely enough for that job - two of four bolts had to be loosened with 2 meters long pipe, as the impact wrench wasn't powerful enough, one of two bearings had to be loosened with big hammer, because hydraulic press wasn't powerful enough, and one shock was also stuck, requiring hard use of hammer, resulting in spring support, which wasn't looking very good, although structurally good enough. Took approx hour total.

Yes as MSH said it was rush, but now is back together so I can get car home before I strip them again to clean up and paint.

We're surrounded by the atlactic ocean msh, everything is stuck in the uk unless you live in middle england. I started out at 17 stripping (to bare chassis) and rebuilding artic trucks, for 'practice'. We know a thing or two about rust.

I won't deny knowledge of DIYers and some specialists everywhere - but will someone try to bother to save some stuck part while servicing 300 quid worth car in a garage, in UK? I can bet this thing was more costly than getting another strut.

What they charged me to do the job was next to nothing at all. Pleased to say rebuilt it and it was not damaged in all the struggle
