Default Turbo interchangeability

I seem to have an oil leak from the turbo (external-could easily be from above so I need to strip out some pieces to take a better look)

But if the turbo itself needs changing, does anyone please know if an ABY engine Turbo would fit?

according to 7zap, the part numbers are

MB Engine (mine) -
035 145 702 LX

and for the ABY engine is
034 145 702

So they are "close" but I do not know if they are interchangeable!
Thanks!

MB uses a K26

S2 is K24

The oil and water lines may not match up correctly.

Ah thanks again Mike.
Good news-the leak is not from the turbo itself but from the oil supply line (gasket 035145773D ).
Average news-its going to be tricky tightening the new one-one it is pretty inaccessible.
Bad news-not in stock in the U.K. Available for 99cents in the USA (plus $20 postage! )

Thanks to Mike, I replaced the lower (return) oil gasket already which was leaking too. THis showed the thickness of the gasket at 0.75mm, so unless anyone can suggest a reasonably priced replacement it looks like I'll be buying a sheet of gasket material and cutting my own using original as a pattern. First I may try to nip the nuts up a little on the one on the car, but it's a bit hot down there at the moment after my efforts to find the source!

I had difficulty obtaining the seals on my S2. I found one on ebay that was for a Bentley and it fitted fine. You can also buy a turbo fitting kit from Auto doc which comes with two seals, pipe gaskets and new nuts. Think it was about £20 from memory.

Thanks guys, both much appreciated. I'll hold off
Getting a gasket sheet in case you have one Mike.
(The RSPCA benefitted from you sending me the last one-I donated a few quid in their shop Last week-in coins so killed two
Birds with one stone!)

Also remember now that RS2 ones are available from Audi Tradition. I have a contact in Germany that could get a couple for you if you want OE.

Thanks-but am happy with aftermarket for straightforward stuff like gaskets-albeit heat and oil resistant gaskets.

All clean and showered now. Enough for the day and gardening tomorrow. Next week=small fixes like replacing washer fluid tube and then hopefully clutch slave at the weekend.

Not got one of these lying around.

It's common with the 20v turbo as it's the same fitment. Seems to be readily available from Autodoc etc - problem is you need to wait at least a week.

Pete Reeve of quattro corner may have one if you need it quickly.

Thanks for looking. I tried AUTODOC and the site showed out of stock. I'll get a gasket sheet and cut it myself. Then I'll have plenty of spare for any more!
Cheers!
