That's not factory aircon.

The factory aircon switch is below the fan switch on the heater panel.

That is most definitely an aftermarket aircon install.

Good colour, I had one in that colour.

I've seen another CQ with the aircon switch there, I thought this was correct. Different on the UR?

It's definitely different on the UR and all US spec cgt's and cq's have their switch on the heater panel also. But euro spec cq's might have had them there.

All UK Spec Ur quattros and Type 85 Coupes/Coupe quattros that had the expensive Optional Extra of Air Conditioning from new had a system called Diavia. It was not fitted at the factory, but fitted when the cars where delivered to the VAG UK supplying Dealer. The button on the Coupe quattro looks correct and the same as every other UK Spec car fitted with the Diavia system. Therefore, I would suggest it is indeed a 'Factory' option, ie specced when new by the original owner. quattroboy on here has an Ur quattro which was specced with the same system new. Anyone who could scan the page of the UK Spec Brochure's Optional Extras page would also be able to confirm this also.

That's interesting, thanks. At least now I know I wasn't imagining seeing it on another CQ!

It also mentions on the ad that it has Audi MSR. Not something I've ever heard of on these.

The factory fit aircon was a different system ken , we never had it over here . The diavia system was a dealer fit system that had part of the bulkhead chopped out and this guff lobbed it .... The button is correct for that system and not a factory fit one . I've had it and had it in pieces at great length and its not a good system . One or two of us twigged that the uk cars that had it fitted will never have had the uprated springs on thd front fitted because of it being a dealer fit system and they would have neglected to do it which also adds some credence to the fact that many complained about the aircon cons were nose heavy and soft .... Ie the non uprated factory springs listed . Also the system is very obsolete now with the internal rubber diaphragms being nla and they perish which take some bodging
