Fishing Holiday on Isle of Skye again
This what happens when you buy a season permit for the Portree Angling Club on Skye, you try to get your moneys worth from the permit by having a second holiday on Skye in the same year, anyway, arrived on Skye yesterday about 2pm ish at my favourite fishing spot, the tide was at the right level and the fishing rod was in the boot of the Vw Golf, after a few casts and two missed offers I hooked in to what I can only say is the biggest brown trout I have seen for many years, after negotiating all the seaweed and getting the net from further up the banking the trout was landed, photo below, the trout was around 4 pound in weight, maybe a little more and in very nice condition.

Wow! Lovely fish. Brown trout in the sea are rare here. We call them slob trout. I had one on the Nevern estuary years ago and it was full of crab.
Sea trout abound in the estuary but don't take a fly very often like they do on the Ythan. Bass will though. Nice |
