Read an article in a certain classic car mag today which touched on barn finds which the writer described as an obsession and a term now stretched to its very limits. He goes on to say 'We all dream of finding that immaculate classic in a dry airy wooden shed, surrounded by toilet-trained chickens and a farmer declaring something along the lines of if you didn't want the car, there was always the...insert your dream barn find here...in the other shed, but that had a bit of rust on the wing. Whereas in reality most barn finds are located in asbestos roofed damp lock ups in Bootle or someone's back garden and were probably put there in 1991 because of some major defect'
Why Bootle I don't know!

If only that was in lira... (That's some Latin old money for you younger folk)

I'm packing a couple of freshly sharpened spades and my metal detector gear, and will spend some idle hours digging up Burma for some of those fabled buried ones.
I'll cut you all in for a reasonable consideration if you pay me upfront

Think you might be digging for a long while in Burma....you're better off sorting out Mr Moss under those bonnets.

And as for Sat Nav...just amazing that young men of 19 and 20 were climbing into Spitfires with maybe 30 or 40 hours flying experience and going to War in them. Brave men, all of them! Life expectancy was apparently a week or two during the Battle of Britain.

I dunno. There's enough gauges in there to keep me adequately confused.

Ok, so I might be sinking a few brews....

Yes, it is very sobering, to consider the level of commitment involved (once the youthful sense of adventure has worn off)

On the subject of interesting things in sheds, I'd also love to get my hands on that PBY sat alongside.

if your updating from Lira, you might as well update to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar...

And even if they didn't come from there, they'd end up disappearing to there :-)
