Default This is a strange one !!

Jumped in the quattro this morning to go to work,

This is how things went.............

Turned on ignition, all fine. Alternator, abs and oil pressure lights come on.

Started the engine, all fine. Alternator, abs and oil pressure lights go out, car ticking over ok.

Pulled out of the garage and set off to work. Anything over 2000rpm and the oil pressure light came on. Dipped clutch, let engine go to idle, oil light goes out, increase revs to 2000rpm or so, oil light comes back on.

After ¾ mile all back to normal, no oil light.
On the way home, no issues at all.

Any thoughts? I was suspecting faulty sender?

Thanks all

Either that or a bad connection caused by dampness / condensation that cleared once it got a bit warmer

Cheers Mike.
Could be, it'll get a clean up and a new connector at the weekend and see how we go.

Oil level is bang on top of the full mark and it didn't sieze today so nothing too much wrong, hopefully

Oil pressure warning light, digital oil temp gauge in centre console and vocal warning for oil level

I had a similar problem with my 1987 Audi coupe GT when it had the original 10v KV engine,
oil light cam on above 2200rpm, oil level was ok, I think I removed the oil pressure relay and it never happened again but I think the Ur quattro's have different wiring, I think Mike might have hit the nail on the head with condensation or bad connection.

Hi Colin, don't think they have a relay and no evidence from a quick check of the wiring diagram. Will clean up all connections and see where we go.

Cheers for the input

They do have a relay #234 - part no 857 919 082

Check the sender first - the 'can' type thing RHS of engine ( as you look at it) there are 2 connections but only one of them used.

Unscrew it and clean the small hole out with carb cleaner.

You say you are getting oil light coming on - are you not getting warning triangle light up and voice alert?
