That’s my concern
I know that it’s a strong car still but your average punter will see the mileage and go elsewhere It’s unfortunate but it’s reality |

The black coupe i gave my grandson has the same problem, over 200,000 miles and the roof line has corrosion but doesn't leak, no matter how much work has been done nobody would buy it simply because they think the engine will develop big faults quickly regardless of what is reality. |

If it'd had ABS I'd have considered keeping it as a first car for my daughter (she likes the looks of it much more than Kermit the Polo) but I can't in any good faith put her out there as a new driver without that. I can't justify it for me, I've already got the keys to 6 cars sitting there. It's not looking great! |

Sounds like your mind is made up?
Might storing it for a while be an option? |

I’d like to be convinced it’s not just another Duff rescue mission!
My tendency has always been to see what could be rather than what is when it comes to a car, especially since, outwith paintwork, I do all of my own resto work. Any financial reality gets quietly set to one side if the cars interesting or has a good story. This one, whilst handsome enough isn’t particularly rare or unusual. There’s plenty of private space where I am but I don’t want to piss the neighbours off, there’s already been casual comments about me starting a car dealership. |

My coupe project is very similar to that, and costs are not too different, my plan is to get the car roadworthy (didnt need as much servicing) as still has a current MOT, and cosmetically similar issues, headling (will be last job i think) a wing, and some trim pieces/potetially some paint, to which extent i havent decided yet - all cost dependant, but the big difference is the mileage is less than 100K, so more desireable but I guess less desirable engine (2.0 ABK) I dont see too much value in the car once done potetially £1-1.5K but i have a few friends asking about it already.
Before you go scrapping it, you could consider offering it as is to fellow members, for whatever price you deem correct. I assume with the shocks etc it wouldnt pass an MOT? would it be worth getting it through MOT with bare minimum, to be able to sell it as a rolling/driving project? Long winded for not much points bur my thoughts for what they are worth. I do think if its saveable hopefully someone will, too many good cars not around anymore due to the likes of scrappage scheme, working on this coupe has made me thing of going for an similar era Avant for a daily rather than the 2010 v50 i have just now. |

Thanks for the input, it’s all appreciated.
My inclination is to take what would be good for my 90 and pass it on or bin it. However I’ve spent all morning cleaning the outside (as that’s when I find I really notice flaws) and I keep thinking it’s cleaning up really well. I’m still trying to source used trims which I could rattle can myself and leave just the front bumper for the paint shop at the moment (albeit I might do that myself) If I can cut professional costs down to the roof and windscreen I’d be happy |
