Default Audi 80 1994 immobiliser query

Hi
My recent purchase seems to have its immobiliser in a twist. If I remove fuse 19 I can start the car, with it in place it fires up then cuts out after a second or so.

If I lock or unlock the car, fuse in place, the siren in the boot sounds for 3/4 seconds when locking and unlocking. Is this normal? Cos if so its bleeding annoying!
Any help much appreciated, tried to get a definitive answer via Google on this but there is limited pickings and not one gives hear symptoms.

I also only have one key, which has the single round push button for the torch but no obvious transponder chip. How does this work for disabling the immobiliser?

Thanks in advance!
Steve

It's a pretty basic immobiliser set up. usually a coiled wire around the ignition barrel so the key may be fairly straightforwards.

Not sure if you could get a non immobiliser version of the ecu which may bypass the requirement for another key

I'd say you're missing a key. When it cuts out do you get the flashing light in the instrument cluster ?

fuse 19 is for central locking and anti-theft. you also shouldn't get a noise from the siren when locking or unlocking

It's normally just a single beep from a small horn in the boot

I've got this problem now, 1994 1.6 B4, single small beep from the boot when you lock the car, fully charged battery, engine earth straps are fine, new starter all connected properly and I got nothing!!! Won't crank. Worked fine before I took the battery out to charge it and pulling fuse 19 does booger all.

Any suggestions where to start? I have a multimeter!!

I'm guessing the battery is confirmed good ?

Does this car have a relay in position 8 in the fuse box ?

I'll go have a look! I presume the battery is good, it took a charge no bother, and is a bosch part, doesn't look very old. May do some more tests on that, will try it on another car tomorrow.

When you lock it the central locking works fine, even the petrol cap, small beep from a horn in the boot and seven flashes on the fog light tell tale lamp, and it's got audi alarm stickers on all the windows so I presume it's factory but maybe not.

Everything else on first ignition works fine, fuel pump runs, 13v on the volt meter in the centre console, headlights and full beam look as bright as they should be but it definitely seems like an imobiliser problem.

Will go get my torch out. Relay.
