Found these in the Coupe door ?

As is says gents, stripping the door to replace the seals and found what's been rattling every timne time I shut the door.

Everything works ok, any ideas what these might be, Oh knowledgeable Audi folk?

Wonder why they are there, window seems to work fine, seems to line up correctly.
Its like having that last bolt left over and no where to put it.

Guess I am poking about a bit more now in there.

Could have had a replacement window unit David, if it works fine and seals as it should just leave it be, if not then those not being in place could be the problem.

Let us know how you get on putting the seal elements in the door cards

Will do, I have worked out how they fit, almost opposite to how I thought.
I will take some photos and post a bit.

Got to repair the door card by the lock where the self tapper goes, it has a crack so I am looking at reinforcing it with Sikaflex and a thin shim of ally.

Only other bit which might give me problems is the plastic bit on the arm rest by the window switches' it's pulled away from the metal, got to try and look at that.
I will do a few pics and post a thread if any are interested.

Got to deal with that sticky foam first

Shims.
The door frames on the V8 also use shims to position the inner assembly within the door outer shell.
The outer shell is aligned with the panels, and the inner assembly, which includes the glass, motor, window frame, etc are positioned such that you get correct angles, and presumably sufficient compression of door seals, for wind noise.
If the glass has been replaced at any time, or a door repaired, you can pretty much bet that the door was assembled to the satisfaction of the technician, but not necessarily to the original finish that would be expected by the factory.

That sounds complicated, defo original door and looking at the wiring that looks like it has never been touched. All of the glass is etched so I will have a look to see if it is the OE door glass.

That makes complete sense Hanuman , seen this where a window unit has been fitted to a door that has dropped, then a block of wood and a trolley jack have been used to lift the door back in line then the shims taken out so that the window sits as it should on the seal, they are then happy all is well when it's not !
