Default Correct power steering fluid B2 90 Q

Advice please:
I am replacing the power steering pump with a ‘remanufactured replacement part’ and would like to know the correct power steering fluid to use.
The only info I have is in the handbook which recommends ATF DEXRON for top up.
There is a huge confusing choice out there can anyone help please?

Be careful as some b2`s use green mineral oil and some red hydraulic fluid. What colour is in there now?
Later Audi s all seem to use the mineral G00 stuff and you can't use red hydraulic or it eats the seals.

If the reservoir cap is green then it takes the G00 stuff, as far as I'm aware?.....but as above is it red or green that's in there?

My 86 Ur has red in it and no green cap.
If the handbook is correct for your car I think you will be good with Dextron (red).

Thanks that helps, I know what to go for Now especially as my reservoir has no green cap and I suspect the brownish stuff in there was probably originally red!

I'm possibly late to this.

If it was me and you've done a complete flush, I'd use the green fluid.

They changed to using green in 86/87 and the part number didn't change. G00 2000 which has since changed to G00 4000 a few years ago.

It's also called CHF 11 S or Pentosin
