Photo of jack and brace position in boot wanted...

Does anyone have a photo of how the jack and brace are supposed to be fixed in the boot please?
There is a hole in the wing lining where the jack MIGHT go, but it doesn't fit very well.
The rubber strap also seems to have a position, but it doesn't make it easier to see how it is supposed to fit.

The brace should be in a small pouch which is held by a strap along with the spare wheel.

You can see the strap in this pic

The jack should be on the rear panel below the lock striker held by 2 rubber straps.

Hmmm, nothing like that on our WR….

It’s always been like this as long as we’ve had it. (1995) that’s not to say it’s correct mind!

Mine is the same as simmo’s, I’ve seen 20v’s boot layout is different but I can’t remember why now

I'll echo that.......... Not sure where I got the info, but that's how I set mine up with a full size unrestrained spare.

space saver on the MB must have been bigger because it wouldn't sit in the corner like on your WR.

Thanks for those photos. That helps a lot.
The space saver sizes did change, and the bigger ones don’t fit under the aerial. I think we all had a discussion about this two years ago?
I will see if I can find the posts. Maybe in the thread about the meet we did off the M25??

I put a full size spare in sometime last century. But I did have all the bits to reinstate it to original spec.

Then I lost the space-saver wheel…
And when the car went in for renovations, they lost most of everything else, except one rubber strap.

It doesn’t seem quite so important, now, though. I used the full size spare once; again sometime last century.
I’d like to put the jack back in nicely.

I do seem to recall the jack going in the space behind the wheel. My mistake was always trying to fit it "down" from the hole rather than "up" !

I found the post from The Star about space saver sizes. I think its not much of an issue, given the number of times I've had to change to a spare wheel (twice) in 30 years of motoring-as long as there is SOME way of being able to get back home that is good enough!

I may also try tucking the jack behind the lock as Mike says, and see what i feel most comfortable with.

I’ve just seen the photos of the Aga Khan’s sport Quattro and they have put the Jack in position like Isimmos.
This positioning also has the benefit of the jack moving the spare wheel out into the boot space a little, so the big plastic Screw In Thing holding the wheel in place doesn’t need too much winding in.

As per my previous posts, I'm happy using the small space saver to provide SOME way of getting home. If I was doing a long distance, and had the boot space, I would swap in a full size spare so I could drive (say) 200 miles at motorway speeds rather than be limited with the space saver-and not have to worry about the diff...

Incidentally, did everyone but me know that you are not supposed to use a space saver on the front? If the front wheel is punctured you have to swap on a rear wheel and use the space saver on the rear.
