Does the 2.2 engine (specifically the MB) have any other blanked off oil pressure holes? I’d like to
Permanently wire up an oil pressure gauge but my usual hole is already full...
Thanks

There's 2 on all 5 cylinder engines. One for low pressure and the other for high pressure.

On the MB it's easier as you already have the required sender.

The barrel type sender has 2 connectors. One for an electrical oil pressure signal and another for sending to a gauge.

thanks-I've already had to remove the barrel as the buzzer relay didn't work, which i have upgraded to a later version-so I do not have the barrel and I have already used that hole with a "T" piece to run two pressure switches.

What I need is another hole to put another digital pressure gauge in so i can monitor oil pressure constantly. The gauges I've seen on ebay also have a variable low pressure waring which may be handy, but not OEM, which is why i want to add another rather than take away what i have at the moment.

Bottom line-is there another oil pressure hole, or do i need to add a T piece to my T piece...

No there isn't.

Why not fit a barrel to the other one where the low pressure sender is ? There's 2 versions of the barrel sender. 0.3 and 1.8 bar. Fit a 0.3 bar version and then you retain the 0.3 bar oil pressure warning and you can also run a gauge off it.

I have no space for an OEM gauge in the centre, so would just lob one in the glovebox or driver's cubby hole
This:
12v 2" 52mm 10-Color Led Car Oil Pressure Bar Gauge Meter Digital Dual Display
is what i'm after

You'd be better trying to get one with a metric M10x1 sender.

Think you'll be fitting an adapter otherwise

Well, swapped the engine out this week for my spare kv block and all is (fingers crossed) working. Took me just over 3 days with 1 day of fettling about for leaks and things. bit of an experience! And I'm knackered - back to normal work today and its like I've come back to work for a rest!

The plan is to fix the original engine and swap it back over at a later date - I'm in no rush!

also worth saying that I had to source a LOT of parts for this swap over - gaskets/hoses bits and bobs. The one thing I couldn't find was the replacement oil breather domed thing on the side of the block - see photo above, you can see it. part number 054103129A Funny enough its nla and i think it covers quite a number of audi models as well as VW. I looked everywhere, even found a S2forum thread where they were getting together to get a bulk order of newly made versions. Well, a little useful hack i think for other people in the same boat. Look at the Porsche 924 part number P5565 - its the same one. Its now fitted to mine. The only difference is that the porsche one has a baffle on the reverse, the old old rusty one had nothing. Price - £40. UK and EU sellers. Hope that helps someone!

Nice work. There's not as much room on the series 2 as you've discovered.

Nice find on the breather. There's 2 versions, one with a larger diameter outlet. Is that the one you have ?

Tighter than a ducks arse comes to mind. Gave the replacement engine a bit of a service the weekend prior. The pulleys and belts soon all came off once I realised it wouldn't fit with them on.

The replacement breather was identical in size to the audi one. Didn't realise there were 2 versions. I presume I have the larger diameter outlet - will take a pic of the gummed up original and post on here. I also used the thermo switch from a 924. Again, different part number, but identical and only cost me £20 from a porsche breaker. The temp ranges are marginally different so it will be interesting what's its like when we have colder weather....
