Broadband conundrum..

Folks,

May pick your brains please?

My home broadband (basic BT stuff) is awful all the time. I use a HP laptop on Win10.
When I use my laptop at my mum's (same BT stuff) all works fine.

If I use my old Win 8 laptop, my broadband is fine wherever I use it.

I've used the on-line BT diagnostic checks and on Win 8 it shows no faults and on Win 10
it sometimes suggests service may be slow, sometimes its a good result.

Obviously the Win 10 laptop may have a glitch.

Anyone had a similar experience with a laptop or with Win10?

Have you done a speed test, I use speedtest.net, try using WiFi and then wired and compare the results, then compare that with what BT promised

Don't be too surprised if the speedtest comes back with a good result. Mine does. But at random, and increasing frequent times of the day, the network speed/capacity will drop to the point of unusable.
Sadly, as BT own the infrastructure and have a stranglehold, and seem also to have been relocated to a shanti hut in downtown Bombay based on their customer service, the options are nigh on non-existent.

This afternoon, I've had network issues. It's actually been worthwhile connecting to a local hotspot rather that using either of my routers only 20feet away.

The cynic in me imagines that if I paid out for the uprated service that they keep offering at huge cost, it might work flawlessly...
