Default Audi b4 coupe 2.0 fuel

Hi,
do I need to use super unleaded fuel in my Audi b4 coupe,it`s a 2.0 8v. Just bought the car a few months ago, almost ready to be put on the road. When I opened the fuel flap
I noticed that it specifies super unleaded only. I thought all VAG cars had the harder valves fitted. Will standard unleaded damage the engine?

Thanks

The valve/seat issue relates to the lack of lead, which they did have in production much earlier than the date when lead was phased out.

The super-unleaded relates to the grade of fuel, Super- ((98 ish), premium-(95 ish) or regular- (91 ish). All have no lead. Sans plumb. The grade relates to its anti-knock properties, not its lead content. Not using super will result in lower MPG in many cars, lower performance, etc.

Check the handbook, as there is more room for clarification in there.
My V8s specify a grade of fuel, with a note that the next lower grade may be used, but with a slight reduction in output.

Eg.
3.6l
95 RON
Regular (at least 91RON) can be used, with a lower output.

In my 4.2
98 RON (super plus)
95 can be used, with a lower output
91 can be used as an emergency measure, advised to fill up with 95 or 98 as soon as possible.

My guess in the latter case is that it can't fully compensate for the lowest grade fuel, and so prolonged use is not advised.
