Rare 1983 Audi 80 Turbo Diesel

Not mine, probably rarer than an 80 quattro! bit on the pricey side, but cool retro motoring an 60mpg is always good! |

Yep its pre TDi technology, but that 1588cc turbo diesel was a good unit in my opinion - capable of massive mileages and very economical. I had a Passat with the same engine years ago as a company car and liked it. Well known journalist Peter Noad has had an F reg Series 80 TD since he bought it of the Audi UK press fleet in 1989. when it was 6 months old.

Hmm, well i guess everyone has different experiences! We had a MK2 Golf GTD which I think shares the same engine? Just remember it being a pig to start, sounding like a bag of spanners and not really going that well! My 306 has an IDI turbo diesel engine......just about to do a Bosch pump conversion and fit a Garrett GT15 turbo, should run like a dream then! Brook |
