@ Brian - I just realised from what you've written that it appears you think these are 9J's it's wearing These are just standard 8J's painted white.

Anyway, I've just insured the car for road use with a specialist rally car insurers (David Auden & Associates) and I should be putting a tax disc on it tomorrow in person...... Santa can give me a miss this year if he's bothered.

I was up there for the past couple of days doing live mapping runs (on the main Aberdeen to Inverness road) with Terry Stamper in the nav-seat.

Here he is (in my seat) preparing for the live mapping sessions:

The car is road-legal but there is still a lot of fiddly bits to do. Kevlar wheel arch extensions, spotlamps (6), door trims, internal door cards, vinyl decals etc, and there is much to do in setting up the Proflex suspension correctly, but it should be there by the end of January I expect.

I've just realised that I've been carrying a mistaken belief for thirty two years.......

These are not 9J's after all - I just imagined they were!!

They are standard 8J's and it's very obvious when compared to the lip on the 9J's in AVE's picture.

That will save me some heartache and some further wedge too!

I dont think you would fit the 9" wheels on looking at the way the 8" ones currently sit?

The 'official' unveiling of the rally car took place this weekend. Despite the fact that there are a number of 'snagging jobs' still to do, I arranged for several qoc friends from my A1 area to spend the weekend at a Scottish Castle to enjoy 4-star accommodation/food along with a chance to shake-off the winter blues from the ur's. I picked-up the rally car from the workshop on Friday evening and headed for the castle.

It was nice to get half a dozen ur's out in January:

We had no problems with the highland weather which was (incredibly) the opposite of the snow cover across the rest of the UK. This being the Dornoch Firth vista yesterday:

The rally car covered two-hundred faultless miles before being returned to the workshop this afternoon. As you can see, there were a few smiles.....

Two weeks to go before a road rally which will be a bit more of a shakedown under slightly more stressful conditions.
