air filter support '87 Audi 80 1.8s
Hello there,
Been a while. 1.8s Audi 80 Should there be some sort of bracket that supports the air filter box? it wobbles about like naeb'dies business, and has caused the large rubbery gasket/heat spacer between carburetor and and inlet manifold to split. Cheers, Iain |

No, air filter box is free and that "carburettor pillow" [at least it's called that way in latvian and russian] sometimes ends, probably because rubber ages and becomes harder. And it wobbles because that part is gone. When I had to change it for my A80, it was around 5 LVL [something like 7 quid], but I guess here it will be harder to find and/or more expensive

From my point of view such rate is quite normal, after all, on A80's used on latvian roads more expensive parts ends at faster rate, suspension rubber parts, for example
Don't know about fuel, but rougher running engine may hasten that process. I hope your engine mounts are in good condition? |
