It's all contained within the diameter of the rolled up door, on an axle supported on the 2 outside walls.
Only 340mm diameter when rolled up. Leaves you all the space where an up & over would cover when open
Easy enough to DIY fit, took me less than a day & it was the first I had done.

This is a timely topic as I will have to replace tbe door of my father's wee garage before I sell the house- as I (nor my cars) will benefit from the new door I guess I'd best replace like for like with another up&over...but what is roughly the £££ difference between the 2 types of door?? (I won't be fitting myself)

Don't know about up & over, the roller doors start at about £370 + £65 carriage.
Those prices are supply only. If you can use a drill & screwdriver and have a pair of helping hands, it's not too difficult.
