Default ur quattro fuel tank

Before I start messing around with my old one, anyone got one in usable condition?
Mine is rusty inside but solid, so I'm only going to be interested in one I can bolt straight in.
I expect it's unlikely, but thought I'd ask before rather than after.

Are you still looking for a fuel tank?

I have a tank from a 1986 B2 quattro non-turbo in really good condition if that’s any good to you, you’d have to check the part numbers but I presume that they’re the same.

Regards, Lee

That does sound interesting! Can you let me know the part number from it? I think it may be a lower capacity tank, but probably the same fittings.

Can you also take out the fuel gauge sender (which I also need!) and take a couple of pictures of the inside of the tank please? Mine is in great condition on the outside, but not the inside! A couple of the outside should be enough to confirm if it is the right tank, regardless of capacity.
thanks very much.
Stuart

Sorry gents but the part numbers are 857201075Q WR / MB engines, 893201075BC KV engines, I also think the flow pipe on the tank is larger on the WR/ MB Engines, on the front wheel drive B2 Coupe Gt the exit point on the tank is more to the drivers side.

Well that's a bummer!
857 partnumbers are aqt specific, but I wouldn't mind if the only difference was a lower capacity. The outlet size would be a pain if smaller, and in the wrong position!
Still would appreciate a photo or two to compare with mine.

I just read another thread on here talking about the pain of trying to clean out rusty flak s under the baffle. My return pipe is blocked, and unless I can clear it out simply then I'll have to send the tank to be lined. Expensive, but if I clean the tank now and have to do it again in a year or two, then lining Becomes more attractive!

Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been at the hospital with an elderly relative who’s really poorly.

I can’t access the tank for photos because I have it stored on in my garage on a suspended floor in the rafters and I’m disabled and unable to climb a ladder but if you are anywhere near Bradford, West Yorkshire then you are more than welcome to pop in and look for yourself.

The tank was taken out of a b2 coupe quattro so I can’t see there being much difference between turbo and non-turbo fuel tanks, I’d say a diesel tank might be slightly different with breathers and nozzle size but the petrol engined tank shape would remain relatively the same otherwise it would cost thousands for each individual engine type, like I say though, you are very welcome to have a nosey at it.

Hi Lee,
Sorry to hear about your hospital visit. I hope they are OK.

I have a friend in Ilkley who should be willing to come over and take a look.
How much do you want for it? If you want to send me a private message with your phone number we can talk later if you prefer.
I will send you a PM with my number now.
Many thanks
Stuart

You can save the tank by using this stuff first to remove the rust:

Then coat the inside of the tank with this:
